Sri Lanka Cricket official Ashantha de Mel is set to quit his role as the Team Manager of Sri Lanka National Cricket team.

He is currently the acting Team Manager and the Chief national selector of Sri Lanka Cricket and will only step down from the post of team manager, though he will continue on in his role as the chief selector.
De Mel was appointed as the Chief National selector in 2018 by then Minister of Sports Faiszer Musthapha following the removal of Graeme Labrooy and his tenure has been extended 3 times so far.
He was assigned with the duties of Team Manager after the outgoing of Asanka Gurusinghe. He mentioned “I will be resigning from the team manager’s post from the end of this two-match Test series against England due to personal reasons. I took this post of team manager temporarily” on Daily News.
De Mel will complete his duties as the Team Manager until the ongoing England tour of Sri Lanka and quit after the series.
