Sri Lanka ODI discard Asela Gunaratne has been added to the squad of the Pakistan Super League franchise, Lahore Qalandars, confirmed by the management of the Qalandars.

Qalandars are currently sitting at the bottom of the ongoing PSL 2019 points table but they still have a chance to make it to the knockout stages with another 2 games remaining.

To add to their below par performances, two of their main stay all-rounders, Corey Anderson and Ryan ten Doeschate will no longer play the tournament as the former is unavailable for the Pakistan leg of the tournament and the latter is ruled out due to an injury. Asela Gunaratne and Australian born wicketkeeper batsman Riki Wessels will fill the void created by those two.

Gunaratne was omitted from the Sri Lanka ODI squad for South Africa after his unimpressive showing in New Zealand with the scores of 11 and 6. He hasn’t played a Test since his match winning 80* vs Zimbabwe in 2017 and a t20I since December 2017.

But the 33-year-old has been churning out runs in the domestic set up as he has contributed in many wins for Army Sports Club.

Next match involving Lahore Qalandars will commence today, 9th of March at 7.30 pm at Karachi.
