Four matches of the Mercantile Services Basketball League 2016 were played yesterday with Mobitel putting in an all-around performance to dominate the eighth day of the tournament.
Sri Lanka Airlines `B` v Sri Lanka Orix Leasing Company
The D division encounter between Sri Lanka Airlines `B` and Sri Lanka Orix Leasing Company was played at Hendry Pedris Stadium. LOLC led the game by seventeen points at half time as the scoreboard read 14-31 in favour of them.
Chathura top scored in the game adding fifteen points LOLC. For Sri Lanka Airlines `B` it was Avishka who added thirteen points while Maleesha scored ten points.
Continuing their dominance into the second half of the game, LOLC scored thirty-two points in reply to the dozen by their opponents. LOLC won the game as the final scoreboard read 26-63.
Dialog Axiata v Sri Lanka Airlines `A`
The B division encounter was played as the second match for the day at Hendry Pedris Stadium. Dialog Axiata led the game by a margin of nine points going into half time as the scoreboard read 30-21.
Ravi top scored in the game scoring fourteen points for Dialog Axiata while Dhanuka kept the momentum adding another thirteen points. Gene managed to add nine points for Sri Lanka Airlines `A` while Layan chipped in with seven points.
Dialog Axiata replied with twenty points to Sri Lanka Airlines `A`s as fifteen points in the 2nd half. Dialog Axiata registered victory in the game as the final scoreboard read 58-36.
John Keells Holdings (Women) v Mobitel (Women)
The B division women`s encounter was played at Otters Aquatic Club. Mobitel led the game at half time quite comfortably with the scorecard reading 12-21.
Gayani top scored in the game adding twenty-three points for Mobitel while Dissanayake scored another eleven. Asangi scored fourteen points for John Keells Holdings while here team mate Binoli added ten points.
John Keells Holdings only managed to score nineteen points in the second half of the game while Mobitel replied with twenty-nine points. It was a walk in the park for Mobitel as they won the game by a score of 50-31.
Mobitel (Men) v Abans Group (Men)
The E division encounter was played as the final match for the day at the Otters Aquatic Club. Mobitel led the game by thirty-one points at the end of the first half. The score board read 34-13.
Koshan top scored in the game adding fourteen points for Mobitel while he was assisted by Lahiru with twelve points. Prabath managed to score twelve points for Abans Group while Roy contributed with nine points.
Mobitel took the game far out of reach for Abans Group as they scored twenty-one points while Abans Group managed to add twenty-five points in the 2nd half. The final score board read 55-38.
