The latest clash in the MasterCard Club Rugby League 24/25 was a spectacle of skill and resilience as Army SC emerged victorious over Sri Lions in a gripping contest for the second time this season. Fans were treated to a high-intensity encounter that saw momentum shift multiple times before Army SC ultimately secured a commanding win in the plate segment 

The match began with a bang as Kasun Bandara, Army SC’s dynamic winger, capitalized on a well-timed chip kick from the center line to score a stunning opening try. However, the fly-half failed to convert, keeping the score at 5-0.

Sri Lions responded swiftly, with Dinuk Amarasinghe slicing through the Army SC defense in the 12th minute to level the score at 5-5. The team then seized the lead as Denuwan Silva executed a well-crafted try, bringing the score to 5-10.

Army SC, refusing to back down, answered with a powerful drive from Damsila Dissanayake, equalizing at 10-10.

Army SC edged ahead once more through a penalty from Isuru Madeagedara, taking the lead at 12-10. However, Sri Lions’ Charaka Chandimal countered with two well-placed penalties, shifting the score to 12-16 in their favor.

Army SC’s determination shone through in the second half as Gayana Salinda slotted a crucial penalty, narrowing the gap to 15-16. Moments later, he struck again, pushing his team into the lead at 18-16. With their confidence soaring, Army SC took full control of the game. Dhansika Dissanayake powered through for another try, extending the lead to 23-16. Salinda then added another penalty, making it 25-16. Kasun Bandara sealed the deal with a dominant try, taking the score to 30-16, and Salinda capped off an impressive performance with a final penalty, securing Army SC’s emphatic victory at 32-16. 

This high-energy battle highlighted the best of club rugby, with Army SC’s precision, resilience, and tactical superiority paving the way for a well-earned victory. Despite a valiant effort from Sri Lions, Army SC’s finishing power proved too much to handle.
