Sri Lanka national women’s rugby sevens team left the island this morning (07th November) to participate in the second and the final leg of the Asian Women’s Rugby Sevens Championship to be kicked off on the 9th of November in Pune, India. Under the captaincy of Thanuja Weerakkodi, the women’s team did well to secure the plate championship in the first leg, held in Bangsaen, Thailand in September.
In Pool A, Sri Lanka will meet China, Kazakhstan, Thailand and India. Sri Lanka will meet hosts India in their first outing on the 9th November at 9.40 am.
