The official media conference was held today for the Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda and Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha as they geared up to play their opening cricket encounter as “Battle of the Queens” when both teams meet on the 4th May at the R. Premadasa International Stadium.
The big match is being played for the first time. The game will go on for 80 overs and the winner will be decided on the 1st innings or outright result. Singer will be sponsoring the game this year and the chief guest for the event will be Sri Lanka cricket president Thilanga Sumathipala.
“The game should be played in the spirit of the game. And we are trying to develop the girl’s school cricket and look forward to provide talent to the international circuit. I wish both teams the best of luck and may the best team win. “Head of ladies Cricket” Apsari Thilakaratne said.
Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda have the advantage of the opening encounter since they ended runner’s up in the school’s tournament this year. Anula Vidyalaya will be led by Amasha Dilshani and her deputy will be Chamodi Hansika. Sahan Deshapriya will look after the coaching duties for Anula Vidyalaya.

Harshitha Madawi and Hasini Perera from Anula Vidyalaya represented Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team at a very young age and they are eager to perform in this all important big match.
Pabasari Ranabahu will be the captain of Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya and she will be supported by Thilini Niwarthana as the vice-captain. They have managed to finish in the final 8 teams in the school’s tournament this year. Chaminda Perera will take on the responsibility as the coach of Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya.
