The Colombo Championship Tennis tournament is the first major tournament the Sri Lanka Tennis Association initiated and 103 years later, it is considered to be the best in quality and otherwise. All top-ranking players from around the island participate along with sometimes international appearances.
Janali Manamperi of Holy Family Convent and Savini Jayasuriya of Bishop’s College went into the tournament as the top 2 seeds (1st & 2nd). However, Anjalika Kurera and Anika Seneviratne toppled the Women’s draw and stormed their way into the final for an epic battle.
