A day to reminisce and celebrate glorious schooldays for the Sri Lankan Schools Alumni (OBA’s) in Qatar came to an end with the successful conclusion of the Ananda Bowling Championship 2017 on 27thOctober at Qatar Bowling Center, Doha.
This is the first ever sporting event organized by the Old Anandians in Qatar and 20 prominent Sri Lankan Schools Alumni in the form of Inter Past Pupils (OBA) teams took part in the tournament. The event was held in two rounds with the top 10 teams of the first round qualifying for the second round. Zahira College, Matale was leading at the end of first round with a total score of 761, Blue Thunders (Wesley College, Colombo) and Hameedian Strikers (Hameed Al Husseine College, Colombo) were placed second and third respectively. Nevertheless, a spirited Hameedian outfit came out with a fantastic performance in the second round as they claimed the top spot with a score of 779. Meanwhile, Ajmeerians Qatar (Ajmeer National School, Ukuwela) and Blue Thunders finished in 2nd and 3rd place with scores of 775 and 762 respectively.
Muhammad Lebbe Muhammad Rifdhi of Zahira College, Matale was named Best Bowler with an overall score of 426 (in both rounds) and Mohamed Zahran of St. John’s College, Dematagoda was named Player of the Final Round.
This is a yet another successful bowling tournament held in Qatar which attracted a large Sri Lankan crowd. The organizers wish to thank ThePapare.com for its support towards the success of the event.
