Royal College, Colombo and S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia are set to take the Basketball arena after a long hiatus.
After a lapse of two straight years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the two schools have taken the initiative in bringing back this supreme event on a major scale this year.
The traditional encounter will be revived on the 29th of April 2022 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in two age categories, Under 15 & under 20 [Main Category].
Every year, both schools have been equally putting their effort into winning the trophy.
However, Royal College will have to bring their ‘A’ game in order to get back the trophy that they lost in the very last encounter which was held back in 2019.
Meanwhile, both the schools were involved in the Schools Under 20 Basketball Tournament over the last week as well.
S. Thomas’ College had an unfortunate breakdown as they were knocked out from the group stages whereas the Royalists booked their spot in the quarter-finals.
Yuganan Baskaran will be leading the Royalists with the support of coach Prasanna Jayasinghe, who is known to be one of the best coaches in the school setup. Yuvindu De Silva has been entrusted with leading the Thomians along with coach Sriyantha Jayaweera who has an experience of over 20 years in the field of basketball.
