S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia and St. Benedict’s College, Colombo are all set to meet in the inaugural Kumar Boralessa – Ranjith Fernando Challenge Trophy which will be played on the 6th and 7th January at Mount Lavinia.
Fernando and Boralessa were hailed as old boys of St. Benedict’s College and S. Thomas’ College respectively.

First time, the two sides met in a first XI Cricket Encounter was way back in 1912. In 2024, S. Thomas’ College registered their last win against St. Benedict’s College under the leadership of Mahith Perera.
For St. Benedict’s College, the last win recorded against S. Thomas’ College was way back in 1964 which came under the leadership of Sunil Fernando.
Sri Lanka U19 vice-captain Sharujan Shanmuganathan is set to lead St. Benedict’s College in this year’s encounter while Kavindu Dias will lead S. Thomas’ College.
