Isipathana College vs St. Benedict’s College
Sri Lanka under 19 representative Pathum Nissanka stroked a classy 101 in a total of 208 all out made by Isipathana on the opening day of their ‘Singer Trophy’ U19 division 1 group ‘B’ first round encounter against St. Benedict’s College today(17). Heshan Fernando also made a valuable 74 runs as the rest of the batting crumbled against some impressive bowling by the Benedictines led by Kaveesha Jayatileka who ended up with 5 wickets.
In reply, St. Benedict’s ended day 1 in all sorts of trouble as they were 6 down with just 72 runs on the board. Sanjula Bandara was the most successful bowler for Isipathana College as he picked up 2 wickets conceding just 10 runs.

Prince of Wales College made 198 all out against Ananda College after winning the toss and batting first, in another encounter of the same tournament worked off at the Army ground in Mattegoda. Dilanka Madhuranka top scored for the boys from Moratuwa with 67 runs while Supun Waragoda and Achila Iranga picked up 4 wickets apiece for the Anandians.
Prince of Wales hit back with 3 wickets-including the wicket of the man in form Sahan Suraweera- before close of play to leave the game in the balance. Dushan Hettige was unbeaten on 26 while Kaushal Nanayakkara was the most successful bowler picking up 2 wickets.
