Mobitel thrashed Singer Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the MCA ‘B’ division 50 over tournament sponsored by Unilever Fair & Lovely MEN, which was worked off today at the Mercantile Cricket grounds.
Mobitel skipper won the toss and invited Singer to take the first use of the surface. Mobitel bowlers backed up the decision to bowl as they dismantled the Singer batting line-up with outstanding bowling and fielding efforts. Darshana Samarakoon and off-spinner Koshan Jayawickrama were the chief destroyers with the ball as Singer Sri Lanka were knocked out for a disappointing 95 all out.
Chasing a below-par target Thimara Jayasinghe came out all-guns blazing as he made an unbeaten 45. Stylish left-hander Geshan Wimaladharma also came in to the party with a quick-fire 35 to reach the target with ease.
