Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) in partnership with New Zealand Rugby Union (All Blacks) will be conducting World Rugby Coaching Level 2 course and Junior Coaches coaching program from 24th to 28th September in Colombo and Kandy.
In line with the World Rugby policies 2017, all coaches should have World Rugby accredited coaching qualifications and should be registered with the SLRFU.
Training and Education programs will be conducted by two New Zealand World Rugby Educators, Jared Tuoro and Jarvy Aoake, along with three Sri Lankan World Rugby accredited coach educators Nihal Gunaratne, Sanath Martis and Ananda Kasthuriarachchi.
Jared Tuoro is a Regional Coach Development Manager of NZ Rugby. As such he is responsible for organizing regional and national coach development workshops and courses. He has 12 years’ experience in rugby development and is a Level 4 accredited Coach.
Jarvey Aoake is a Rugby Development Officer for the Hawkes Bay Rugby Union. He is responsible for running Rugby Smart, the NZRU coach safety and injury prevention course and NZ Rugby ‘Developing Rugby Coaches Course’ (World Rugby Level 2). He is a World Rugby accredited coach educato and also Jarvy also plays for a local club having recently debuted as a prop for the Magpies in the Mitre 10 Cup competition. He is a Level 3 accredited Coach.
The World Rugby Coaching Level 2 course will be conducted from the 24th to the of 26th September in Colombo for 30 coaches and the SLRFU has invited all “ A “ Division Rugby playing clubs and Division 1 Group ‘A’ schools to each nominate one coach to follow this course.
The group is also scheduled to conduct four Junior Coaches coaching programs, two in Colombo on the 27th of September from 8.30 am to 11.30 and 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm and two in Kandy on the 28th of September from 8.30 am to 11.30 and 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Junior coaches of all rugby playing clubs and schools interested in participating in the Junior Coaches coaching programs are requested to register with Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union on or before Monday 19th September, 2016.
