Sri Lanka ‘A’ managed to take the upper hand on rain-hit Day 2 of the one-off four day encounter against Afghanistan ‘A’ at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo.

Resuming from their overnight score of 372 for 7, the hosts were bowled out for 435 runs in their first innings. Dinusha, who remained unbeaten on 126 at stumps on Day 1, added 18 more runs to his overnight score before being stumped off the bowling of Zia-ur-Rehman. Dinusha’s partner at the other end – Wanuja Sahan – also contributed with vital 75 runs, his highest score in first-class cricket. Dinusha and Sahan added 119 runs for the 8th wicket. The left-arm spinner Zia-ur-Rehman was the best on show with the ball for the visitors as he claimed 6 wickets for 127 runs.

In reply, the visitors were 18/1 at stumps on Day 2. There were several rain interruptions during the passage of play, which washed out most of the day’s play.
