FFSL appoints Abdulla Almutairi

Abdulla Almutairi has been appointed as the interim head coach for Sri Lanka for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers games against Cambodia as the current Sri Lankan manager, Andy Morrison, is receiving treatment for an injury sustained during the previous international break in Brunei.

The FFSL led by President Jaswar Umar reached an agreement with Qatar Aspire Zone after their President met with Tim Cahill and other high-ranking officials today.

Almutairi will take charge of the team with immediate effect as Sri Lanka will play against Cambodia on the 5th of September in Colombo and the 10th of September In Cambodia in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.

The highest feat of Almutairi’s managerial career so far is guiding the Nepalese National team to the SAFF Championship final in 2021. Unfortunately, he was unable to secure the title, falling short in the finals against India.
