Sri Lankan Athlete Ushan Thivanka Perera, who participated in the Charlie Thomas Invitational Indoor Tournament held in America, managed to win the Men’s High Jump event of the tournament.
Representing Texas A&M University, Ushan Perera managed to show a performance of 2.20 meters in the final round of the Men’s High Jump of this tournament and, with that performance, also managed to set a new facility record.
It is particularly noteworthy that this was Ushan’s first competition of the year, and there are numerous competitions coming up in his calendar.
Ushan Thivanka Perera, who lives in America and who is involved in Ahletics, has been able to show exceptional performance in the High Jump event in the past few years and he has managed to break both indoor and outdoor national records in High Jump.
In addition to the Sri Lankan record, Ushan has also managed to claim the South Asian record in the outdoor High Jump event with a performance of 2.30 meters (in 2021).
He was among the best players in the world in his event in the last few years, but due to some problems, he was not able to participate in the international tournaments held in those years.
Sri Lanka missed out on his participation in the 2022 Commonwealth Games and last year’s Asian Games, and it is very important for the Sri Lankan team to have Ushan, who is still among the top performers, in the international tournaments.
