Joseph Vaz juniors scored a mammoth total of 323 runs against Maliyadewa at their Singer Schools U15 Division ‘A’ match today. Winning the toss home team Joseph Vaz invited Maliyadewa to bat first and bowled them out for 52 runs in 19.2 overs in day 1 of the 4 innings match played at Joseph Vaz College Grounds. Achintha Deshan demolished the Maliyadewa batting line up taking 5 wickets for just 11 runs. Joseph Vaz came to bat for their first inning and scored a mammoth total of 323 runs by only losing 3 wickets and declared the inning leading by 271 runs. Nethmal De Soyza and Menusha Perera scored brilliant centuries not out 108 runs and 101 runs respectively.

Maliyadewa on their second inning trailing a huge target, managed to score only 120 runs all out again for the second time of the day. Once again Achintha was the leading wicket taker by taking 3 wickets for 6 runs.

Vidyartha College took on Sri Sumangala College up in the hill country in the Singer Schools U17 Division (A) match in group ‘H’ and it was an easy win for the Sumangala boys. After winning the toss Vidyartha College chose to bat first and managed to score 188 runs all out in 43.4 overs in a 50 over match. Navodya Dilshika top scored with 68 runs and Kavishka Dilsara scored 50 runs as Thimira Akalanka picked up 3 wickets for 28 runs.

Sri Sumangala chased down the target 191 runs in 36 overs with 5 more wickets remaining. Shanel Meradhya scored 47 runs and Roshan Peiris scored 43 runs. Kavisha Dilsara was the pick of the bowlers when he chipped in with 3 wickets for 36 runs.
