Uncapped Derbyshire seamer Mark Footitt has been named in England’s squad for the pre-Ashes training camp.
The left-arm bowler, 29, has taken 32 wickets in Division Two this season.
Footitt is the only uncapped player in the squad, while all-rounder Chris Jordan and leg-spinner Adil Rashid miss out.
Meanwhile, 6ft 7in seamer Reece Topley, 21, has earned his first senior call-up, for England’s Twenty20 match against New Zealand next week.
Topley has taken seven wickets for Essex in this season’s T20 campaign and is joined in the squad by Hampshire batsman James Vince, but there is no place for former captain Stuart Broad for the game at Old Trafford, which takes place on 23 June.

The Ashes training camp in Spain, which begins on 27 June, will give incoming coach Trevor Bayliss the chance to assess his team before this summer’s contest against Australia.
Director of England cricket Andrew Strauss said: “With Trevor Bayliss arriving in the country next Thursday, Trevor, Alastair and I felt it important that both players and management likely to be involved in the early stages of the Ashes have the chance to meet him and fully understand his approach prior to meeting up for the start of the Test series.
Former England bowler Ryan Sidebottom: |

“Footitt is a good addition. He bowls very quickly and has that variation that England have needed for a long time now. Batsmen do get used to your bowling, especially so in Test cricket. When I was at Nottingham he was a young left-armer with a lot of potential. He was always asking about bowling, always interested in how to win games. He’s in good form, and I’m pleased for him. He deserves his chance.” |
“With that in mind, we have arranged a preparation camp in Spain. This will involve a combination of physical and fielding sessions and planning meetings in an informal environment in order to provide the best possible lead up to the first Test in Cardiff.”
