Chamil Coorey Crowned As a National carom champion in the 9th Consecutive year

The tug-o-war between two elite slicers, Chamil Cooray and Brindley wickramasinghe which entertained local carrom fans in recent tournaments favoured chamil in the 45th National carrom championship final as he clinched the title by beating Brindley wickramasinghe comfortably 25/14, 25/16.

The tournament concluded at the Maharagama Sri Lanka Carrom Federation (SLCF) office recently.

In the 1st semi final defending champion Chamil Coorey won over the Dimal Seneratne.

MTM Hilmy won the 3rd place against the Dimal Senaratne without race in 25/5,25/12

In the Quarter final former four-time national champion M.T.M. Hilmy created a sensational upset when he thrashed the reigning world champion Nishantha Fernando in straight sets in the Men’s Singles.Hilmy showed Fernando the door in the quarterfinal clash of the Men’s Singles winning a gruesome battle in straight sets 25/21 and 25/24.Fernando was one of the hot favourites in the Men’s Singles after his feat at the 6th World Championships held in Colombo last November, but his pride was rattled by Hilmy who is fighting back to regain his once lost prestige as the top gun
