Royal College registered a superb win over Dharmaraja College Kandy in an inter school cricket match played at the Royal College grounds a short while ago.
The Kandy team batting in their 1st innings having made 127 runs at the close of play last evening for the loss of 9 wickets managed to add a further 7 runs ending on 134. Romesh Ranasinghe was the only batsman who made a telling contribution ending with 44 runs to his name. In the bowling department for the Royalist’s, Debutant Lasith Ambuldeniya finished with impressive figures of 4/19 while Chamika Karunaratne finished his quota grabbing 2 wickets for 24 runs.
Royal College batting in their 2nd innings scored a brisk 185/3 declared to completely take the game away from Dharmaraja. Isuru Gunathilake and Milan Abeysekera’s fifties made sure that the Royalists got past the 150 mark.
Dharmaraja College batting in their 2nd innings having a target of 235 runs to get in 53 over’s, failed with the willow once more being all out for 106 runs in 46.2 over’s. Skipper Devind Padmanatha was the main wicket taker for the home team grabbing 4 wickets for 17 runs while offie Poorna Aluthge ended the innings with figures of 2/42.
It was an emphatic win for the Royalist’s playing on home conditions with most of their top players stepping up to plate and making telling contribution.
