Umar Amin and Shan Masood made superb centuries to help Pakistan A take the lead against Sri Lanka in their 3rd unofficial Test match after two days of play at Dambulla Cricket Stadium.

The visitors resumed their innings from the overnight score of 20 for no loss but they lost Khurram Manzoor in the very first over on day 2 courtesy Lahiru Gamage’s bowling. Shan Masood was then joined by Vice-captain Umar Amin and they completely took the game away from the hosts with scintillating batting.

Left-handed duo was batting with terrific confidence as they knocked around for more than 55 overs to accumulate 204 runs for the 2nd wicket. Umar Amin was very positive in his batting approach and he 11th first-class ton while Masood got to his 6th first-class ton. Amin stroked 14 fours and 3 sixes in his 133-ball knock of 127 and he was finally removed by Lahiru Gamage in the afternoon session.

Masood constructed two more valuable partnerships worth 68 and 62* respectively with Usman Salahuddin and Ali Asad as the visitors posted a daunting 377 for 4 in 104 overs at stumps on day 2. Masood cracked 20 boundaries during his unbeaten 302-ball stay in the crease to score 145*. Apart of Lahiru Gamage’s 3-wicket haul, none of the other bowlers posed a threat to the Pakistan A batting lineup.

The match will be continued tomorrow (22nd May/Friday).
