Red bull Campus Cricket tournament comes to its concluding stages with Sri Jayawardenapura University and Moratuwauniversity getting final birth to battle.
On the journey to the final Sri Jayawardenapura overcame Peradeniya beating them by 9 run margin. J’pura notched up 114/7 in their 20 overs with K Silva smashing 41 and Cooray pitching in with 17. M K Perera took 2/21 to inflict damage on J’pura. In their turn Peradeniya despite a fighting 45 by S Wijesekarafell short by 9 runs to push J’pura to the final.
The other semi-final was played out by Moratuwa and Wayamba which was a lower scoring affair where Moratuwa easily overcame the 87 all out by Wayamba who batted first with Seelaratne making 23. N U Gunatilake of the Moratuwauniversity bowled brilliantly to end up with figures of 4/14 to give his team and easy target to chase. Chase they did with Marasinghe leading the way with a quick-fire 42 getting to the target of 88/3 in 13.5 overs to propel themselves into the final.
The final will be played out at the Sara Stadium on Saturday
