The Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka has been organising a tournament for players in hotels since 2013.
This was inaugurated in 2013 at Hilton Colombo who were the sponsors of the 1st Championship and who donated a Rolling Challenge Trophy for the Winners. Galadari Hotel won the Inaugural Championship.
Last year it was held at Galadari Hotel and that year too Galadari Hotel annexed the Title. This year the hosts were Ramada Colombo, who looked after the needs of all present with care and interest. The arrangements were excellent and all present enjoyed the day although there were prize for only the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams with only certificates for the 4th place.
Team event – each team consisted of 6 players (3 men and 3 women) One match consisted of 02 men’s/ 02women’s singles, 01 men’s /01women’s doubles and 01 mixed doubles a total of 7 matches. Each team had to win 4 out of these 7 to win the game. Two players participating in the men’s/women’s singles cannot play in the doubles event together. One will play doubles with the 3rd player while the other will play the mixed doubles.
Matches were played on this basis and commenced at 10 a.m. with an Opening ceremony where the Top Management of Ramada Colombo and officials of their Sports Club and the officials of the Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka lit the traditional oil lamp before proceeding further. There were 8 teams with 6 hotels participating. The hotels were Galadari, Mt. Lavinia, Kingsbury, The Sands, Eden Resort & Spa and Ramada Colombo.
Next year the organizers CFSL stated that they will have a new system of play which allowed more participation with the men and women vying separately in their events. This will be announced 3 – 4 months prior to next year’s Inter-hotels Carrom Tournament 2016.
After being Runners-up for 2 years to Galadari Hotel, Mt. Lavinia Hotel ‘A’ team was able to overcome their strong contenders with ease to win the 3rd Inter-Hotel Carrom Tournament 2015.

Winners – Mt. Lavinia ‘A’ team beat Galadari Hotel (Runners –up) 4/1
3rd Place – The Sands team beat Ramada Colombo (4th) 4/2
The prizes were distributed to winners, runners up etc. by Mr. Imthiaz J. Cader, Managing Director of Ramada Colombo who delayed all his work in order to give away the prizes. It should be informed that all players present enjoyed the day which is our objective.
