Sri Lanka U14 Girls team will play in the Asian Football Confederation U14 Regional Championship in Nepal.
Reigning champions Nepal, Thailand and DPR Korea now know their AFC Girls’ Regional Championship 2015 group stage opponents following the official draw at AFC House on Tuesday.
Hosts Nepal have been pooled in Group A along with Iran, the Maldives and Sri Lanka while Group B is the battleground for Bhutan, Bangladesh and India, who are all competing for honours in the South and Central Zone.
The ASEAN Zone is divided into two groups, with Group A featuring 2014 champions Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia and Laos – who are both competing for the first time – as well as Cambodia. Group B consists of hosts Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.
DPR Korea have been drawn into Group B of the East competition and will lock horns with hosts China, Hong Kong and the Northern Mariana Islands, while Group A will see Japan, Chinese Taipei, Guam and Korea Republic all vying to progress to the knockout stage.
The East, South/Central and ASEAN competitions will be held according to the group/knockout format, while the West championship will be played under the single round robin system and will feature hosts Bahrain, Iraq, reigning champions Jordan, Palestine and the UAE.
