Club Cricket Summary – Moors stun NCC; SL Ports and Bloomfield record comfortable wins

Moors SC stunned NCC while SL Ports Authority and Bloomfield recorded comfortable outright victories as the penultimate round of matches in the SLC Premier League Tournament 2014/15 – Super Eight stage ended yesterday. 

NCC still remains on top with 82 points while SL Ports Authority is closely behind with 75 points and their final game next weekend will be the title decider. NCC’s Jehan Mubarak has crossed 1000-run mark for the season while Badureliya CC skipper Milinda Siriwardene has also surpassed the magical figure of 1000 runs in one single season. 

 

Moors vs NCC

Chasing a mammoth target of 442, NCC were bowled out for 220 handing a stunning 222-run victory for Moors at R. Premadasa Stadium. 

Moors batting pair of Chathuranga De Silva and Oshadha Fernando smashed hundreds in respective innings. 

Moors – 296 all out in 91 overs: Chaturanga De Silva 107, Kosala Kulasekara 53, Chaminda Vidanapathirana 5/65, Sohan Boralessa 2/68.

NCC – 195 all out in 52.3 overs:  Jehan Mubarak 62, Dilhara Lokuhettige 3/31, Janaka Gunaratne 3/41.

Moors (2nd inn) – 340/8 declared in 112 overs: Harsha Cooray 55, Oshada Fernando 119, Chaminda Vidanapathirana 3/54, Sandun Weerakkody 2/11.

SL Ports vs Tamil Union

Malinda Pushpakumara’s 10-wicket haul enabled SL Ports Authority to beat Tamil Union by 6 wickets at Colts grounds. 

Malinda captured an 8-wicket haul in the Tamil Union 2nd innings while Ashan Priyanjan struck a stunning ton for the winning team. 

Tamil Union – 198 all out in 68.5 overs: Dinuk Wickramanayake 35, Madushan Ravichandrakumar 34, Shanuka Dissanayake 4/29, Malinda Pushpakumara 2/63.

SL Ports Authority – 370 all out in 92.1 overs: Ashan Priyanjan 122, Sachithra Serasinghe 77, Devin Pathmanathan 3/69, Nisala Tharaka 3/72.

Tamil Union (2nd inn) – 268 all out in 70.4 overs: Manoj Sarathchandra 41, Romesh Buddika 86*, Malinda Pushpakumara 8/97.

Bloomfield vs CCC

CCC’s dismal 2nd innings batting effort of 85 helped Bloomfield register an easy 8-wicket victory at P. Sara Oval grounds.

Chathura Randunu, Vishwa Fernando, Suraj Randiv and Nuwan Pradeep excelled with the ball for Bloomfield. 

CCC – 235 all out 74.5 overs: Hasantha Fernando 48, Chamara Silva 38, Suraj Randiv 3/44, Vishwa Fernando 3/64, Nuwan Pradeep 2/56, Chathura Randunu 2/51.

Badureliya vs SL Army

Milinda Siriwardene’s stunning knock of 185* almost completed Badureliya’s mammoth 4th innings chase of 454 but the Soldiers held their nerve to salvage a draw at NCC grounds.

Army skipper Asela Gunarathne struck a delicate ton on day one but Milinda’s heroic innings on the final day was the biggest highlight of the drawn encounter.
