This group of legends who brought home glory, reunite for exhibition T20 cricket in aid of the Baby Cheramy Big Heart project which will be worked off at the NCC grounds on 12th January 2013 at 10.00 am. This was revealed in a media briefing which was held at the magnificent recently ordained Kingsbury Hotel.
The national cricket champs of the 1996, captain Arjuna Ranathunga, Aravinda De Silva, Sanath Jayasuriya, Asanka Gurusinghe, HashanThilakarathne, Roshan Mahanama, Romesh Kaluwitharane, Upul Chandana, Chaminda Vaas, Pramodya Wickramasinghe, Ravindra Pushpakumara, and Muttaiah Muralidaran have volunteered to take to the field as a team. Their prospective opposition team will consist of Thilan Samaraweera, Prasanna Jayawardane, Graeme Labroy, Sidath Wettamuni, Brendon Kuruppu,, Kapila Wijegunawardane, Hemantha Wickramarathne, Roger Wijesuriya, Ashoka De Silva Hemantha Revapriya, Ranjith Madurusinghe, Sanjeewa Weerasinghe and Erick Upashantha.
Baby Cheramy celebrating its 50th anniversary in partnership with the Department of Probation and Childcare Services, Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs have organized this event with the objective of promoting education among children who are at risk of dropping out of school due to poverty.

Meanwhile it was revealed that the team will continue to be involved and take necessary measures in the future to uplift the education of the children who suffer from poverty.
