Richmond beat Wesley by 6 wickets

Richmond College recorded an outright win as they beat Wesley College by 6 wickets in their 1st XI game held at Wesley College grounds (Cambell Park) yesterday (27th February).

Winning the toss and batting first Wesley College was bowled out for just 215 in 70 overs as the Wesley batting failed to produce a good show. Avindu Theekshana picked 5 for 48 for Richmond College. Zenith Wickramanayake top scored for Wesley with 69 and Reshana Senavirathne scored 59 runs.

Richmond College declared their first innings at 252 for 5 in 40.1 overs. Charith Asalanka top scored with a sensational 122 while Sithara Gimhan scored 93. Captain Jonathan Cadiramanpulle picked 2 for 34 for Wesley College.

Trailing by 37 runs in their Second innings, Wesley College batting failed to fire again as they were bowled out for a double figure score of 89 yet again. Captain Jonathan Cadiramanpulle top scored with 45 for Wesley. Charith Asalanka picked 5 for 30 and Savin Nanayakkara picked 3 for 7. 

Richmond College set of their chase of 52 and reached it in just 11 over for the loss of 4 wickets. Charith Asalanka made an unbeaten 26 to lead Richmond to victory. Jonathan Cadiramanpulle picked 2 for 30 but it was too little too late as Richmond had already won the game.
