Trinity take first-innings honours against Isipathana

The under 19 division one encounter between Trinity College Kandy and Isipathana College Colombo ended up in a draw at the Asgiriya Stadium whilst the hosts took the first innings honors. The game being a low scoring encounter had an evenly poised outlook at one juncture but soon drifted away to end up in a draw.

Invited to bat first by Trinity College, Isipathana College were able to amass only an aggregate of 119 runs in a pitch which was very bowler friendly. Top scoring for Pathana was left-hander Salinda Ushan who scored 34 runs while the bowling department dominated the entire session. Sri Lanka Youth player and left-arm spin bowler Duvindu Tillekeratne ended up with figures of 4/6 while Pramodya Abeykoon and Lahiru Kumara picked two wickets apiece.

Coming out to bat just after the lunch break, Trinity did not have it easy as they had to toil hard for the runs. The Isipathana bowlers Shehan Sandaruwan and Chameera Dissanayaka made it a point to give the Lions the similar treatment they had given as they restricted opponents. Having ended up in stand of 106-6 wickets, the bowling department of Isipathana failed to prevent Trinity surpassing the 1st innings win mark. Trinity College was all out for 149 runs in their 1st innings. Kaveen Hiniduma top scored with 42 runs while Shehan picked up four wickets and Chameera secured three.

The pitch on day two had changed its strides overnight and from the outside looked very batsmen favored. Isipathana College got off to a good start in their second run, surpassing the 200 point before they were bowled out for 212. Left-handed Pramod Maduwantha top scored with 75 while skipper Raveen Sayer ended up with figures of 4/88.

With less than 12 overs to go, Trinity College managed to rise to 48 runs for no loss before the close of play. The game ended giving Trinity a first Innings win against Isipathana College to retain in the top spot in the league.
