Sachin De Silva wins championship for 2nd time

Sachin De Silva shun at this years championship, played brilliant golf over three days (78, 73, 82) to clinch the title for the second time.

He had total aggregate gross score of 233 and took the win by 11 shots. Tight play was evident for runner up position on the final day of play between Zaffar Sikkandar and Chalitha Pushpika, however Chalitha Pushpika ended as runner up of the championship by 5 shots.  Also Sachin De Silva won his age group category – Gold division (age group category 15 – 17 yrs) with  Chalitha Pushpika being 1st runner up with total score 244, 2nd runner up – R Illeirajah 270 and 3rd runner up – Shamani Jagoda only girl golfer to have top finish in the tournament. 

In the Silver Division (11-14 years age group category) Prashan Peiris of St Thomas Prep played brilliant golf over three days (76, 77, 72) to win the division over Ishira Fernando  (83, 83, 82) who also played good golf but had to concede for second place. G Dhanaranjan of Kandy came third with total score of 281 and in fourth place was Armand Flamer Caldera with 289. The three-day Sri Lanka Junior golf Championship was sponsored by ‘Prima – Sunrise Bread’ and organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union (SLGU). 

The General Manager of Ceylon Agro Industries, Mr. Shun Tian Shing and President of the Sri Lanka Golf Union, Mr Ana Punchihewa gave away the awards and it was announced for the first time the Regional Junior opens to be played in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya & Trinco in year 2013 which is to be organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union with generous sponsorship by Ceylon Agro Industries promoters of Prima “Sunrise Bread”.
