Three of the top cricket playing schools in the Island, Royal College, Trinity College and Richmond College took control of their respective under 19 division one encounters which started on Tuesday.
Royal College vs St. Benedict’s College
Opening bat, Naveen Vidanapathirana’s superlative ton helped Royal College post a mammoth 284 for 6 before declaring their first innings against St. Benedict’s College at Reid Avenue.
Left-handed Vidanapathirana stroked a classy 115 while his opening partner Hasitha Samarasinghe fell one run short of a well-deserved half-ton. Ruvinda Niwanulla and off-spinner Geethika Jayathilake captured 2 wickets apiece for the visitors. Bens were 36 for the loss of one wicket at stumps.

Trinity College vs Bandaranayake College
The frontrunners of the Under 19 division 1 tournament 2014/15, Trinity College continued their dominance against Bandaranayake College, Gampaha and they are on their way to their 8th outright win for the season. Trinity skipper Raveen Sayer spun a web around Bandaranayake batsmen at Asgiriya Stadium to bundle out the visitors for 78 runs. The off-spinner who imitates the great, Muttiah Muralitharan took a five-wicket haul. Trinity in their reply hammered the less-effective bowlers to all the parts of the ground. Arjuna Jayasinghe and Dilan Jayalath hammered down centuries for the hosts.

Richmond College vs Dharmasoka College
Left-arm seamer Chamod Piumal’s six-wicket haul and skipper Sithara Gimhan’s 93 ensured the defending champions, Richmond College, Galle took control of their match against Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda at Galle Stadium.
The visitors were rattled for only 90 runs by Piumal’s consistent and persuasive bowling as only Hasindu Vidharshana made a top-score of 24. Richmond College in their reply ended the day on a pretty position and leads the game by 123 runs. Left-handed Sithara Gimhana stroked a beautiful 93 while Dhananjaya Lakshan chipped in with 35.
