Kandy SC take on Warringah RC from Sydney

The second round week one fixture between Kandy and CH&FC has been postponed as a result the Australian Warringah RC  who competes in the New South Wales Rugby Union competitions, theShute Shield and Tooheys New Cup, is in the island to play a friendly. Kick off 17th Saturday at 4.30pm @ Nittawela.

Warringah also nicknamed as ‘The Rats’ is currently is in the island and this is a preseason game for them. However, Kandy who ran riot against CH&FC in the last week of first round as they won 71-05. In addition to this CH finished in 8th place after the end of the first round therefore, they have to take on Kandy once again in the first week of second round. Unfortunately, CH had postponed this fixture also the club is facing several issues: Financial back up is the main despite no foreigners nor a ground to practice.

It is a different opponents for Kandy this Sunday and this will be a great tussle for them. Sean Wijesinghe, Fazil Marija, Pradeep Liyanage, Roshan and Gayan Weerarathne all have played and having experienced in international level. Kandy’s foreigners Koto Pongi, Oscar Ouma and the South African duo, Christopher Cloete & Quinton Crocker in the side will provide them all the strength for the hosts.

Sri Lankan veteran Dilip Kumar who was the President of ‘Sydney Rugby Union’ has organized this event on request of Mohan Samarakoon who was the former president of Central province rugby Football Union (CPRFU).
