D.S Senanayake College were deprived of a certain outright victory as Nalanda College survived a superb comeback rally from the visiting team at Nalanda grounds on Wednesday.
Nalanda recorded the first-innings win after they bundled out the strong DS batting line up for 151 with only Geeth Perera scoring a half-ton. Nalanda in their reply made 195 all out with Aroshana Kumara and Isuru Samarasinghe chipping in with 37 and 32 respectively.
DS in their 2nd innings hustled up and put up a staggering 214 for 4 in 31 overs before declaring the innings late on day 2. Left-handed Uvin Bandara made a quick-fire 57. Chasing a target of 171 runs to win the game outright, Nalanda struggled against Torin Pitigala’s seam bowling as he picked up 4 wickets in no time Torin ended the game on 8 wickets in both innings.
