Hambantota Sports Club won the coveted Men’s Division I and Women’s Division I titles at the 2014 All-island Inter-club Doubles Tennis Tournament. They were the key titles on offer at this major all-island competition of the national tennis calendar.
The men’s Division I team of the Hambantota SC comprised leading players like Sankha Atukorale, a former Davis Cup representative, Thanveer Ashiq, Delwar Hossain and Udith Wickremasinghe. The Men’s team beat the Singhalese Sports Club in the finals.
Their women’s team feature former National champion Shalini de Silva, Nethmi Waduge, Sujani Bogollagama and Thewuni Devaraja.
The Tryphone Mirando Trophy presented to the overall champion of the tournament was won by Singhalese Sports Club this year. They won the most number of titles on offer in this year’s competition.
