T20 Blind Cricket WC – India ruin Lanka’s unbeaten show

Sri Lanka’s perfect start towards an unbeaten Blind Cricket Twenty20 World Cup was halted yesterday (6), as the host nation India recorded a 168-run-win against their South Asian counterparts. 

Batting first, India piled up a total of 300 runs for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs at the match, which was worked off at the Central College grounds in Bangalore

The partially blind Indian cricketer PrakashJayaramaiah,was the trouble-maker for Sri Lanka, as he knocked 149 off 54 balls, claiming his third century in the tournament so far. His destructive batting display included 33 boundaries, when he was well supported by his partially blind colleague GaneshbahiBushara, who contributed with 53 off 22 balls. 

In reply to the total of 301 runs made by the home team, Sri Lankans were bowled out when the total had hit only 132 runs. Star batsmen of the Sri Lankan camp were unable to impress the crowds as Indian pacers Ajay Kumar Reddy and PankajBhue who claimed two wickets each.

Pakistan claimed an eight-wicket win over arch-rivals India to qualify for the semi-finals of the Blind Cricket Twenty20 World Cup in Bangalore. 

In other matches, Australia beat Nepal and register their second win of the competition while the West Indies took their first win by beating Bangladesh.

England were in action against South Africa as they searched to follow the West Indies and gain a first victory.
