As we approach the latter part of the Dialog Football league, the matches are becoming tense and more competitive. Today it was Thihariya Youth SC who managed to make some valuable to points to be alive in the league.
From the beginning of the match Thihariya looked determined. They undoubtedly had more than 60% of the possession of ball during the first half. They got in the lead when their main striker Emmanuel Uchenna scored the first goal of the match.
Thihariya wasn’t satisfied with just one goal. They kept on probing at the defense of Nandamithra which looked rattled from the beginning. Their ball clearance was bad and the opposition made full advantage out of it. They went on to score their second few minutes later. This time it was Afeel Mohommad who managed to shoot after deceiving the defense line of Nandamithra FC.
Nandamithra on the other hand could not get going. First half ended at 2 goals to 0, Thihariya in the lead.
Nandamithra came out with some changes in the second half. They were looking much better as a unit and their gameplay looked pretty good comparing to their performance in the first half. Early inroads into the game were provided by right extreme Manoj Kumara but the defense of Thihariya was upto the challenge. The first mistake by the defense line of Thihariya came at the 50th minute when Nishantha Lakshitha pushed Nalin Udaya inside the penalty box and conceded a penalty. Fortunately for them Nandamithra missed the penalty which was taken by Ton-Tonye.
Nandamithra didn’t give up, they were determined to get ahead in this game. Which they eventually did when two quick goals were scored by their two strikers. First one came off when David Osagie crossed the ball towards the penalty box which found the boot of Nalin Udaya who found the back of the net. Seconds later they struck yet again. This time it was off a corner which was taken by Damith Weeramthree. He managed to find Manoj Kumara who scored there second goal of the match. Nandamithra looked confident and they were attacking the defense of Thihariya.
They were so pumped up even the defenders were attacking the ball. They committed themselves too much. When the ball was taken into their half by the forwards of Thihariya they couldn’t clear the ball properly and ultimately made an unforced and conceded a penalty. Maji Hygenius who scored the penalty and put Thihariya back in the lead.
That mistake cost Nandamithra the game. At the final whistle Thihariya Youth SC won against Nandamithra SC by 3 goals to 2. Afeel Mohommad who scored the second goal for Thihariya stated that he is really happy with the teams performance today and they are willing to give their best to stay alive in the league.
