An unbeaten century by Chenutha Wickramasinghe and Tharindu Rathnayaka’s match bag of 11 for 29 set up a thumping an innings and 187 run win for S.Thomas’ College against Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda.
Opting to bowl, the Dharmasoka lads were made to rue the decision as the hosts declared on 283/5 in just 52 overs at 5.44 runs per over. Chenutha Wickramasinghe scored his 102 in 121 balls inclusive of nine boundaries and four sixes, with Captain Helakamal Nanayakkara scoring a stylish 58.
The Thomian bowlers went on to pile more misery when they ripped through the Dharmasoka batting lineup for just 59. Shenal De Silva and Tharindu Rathnayaka picked up three wickets a piece while Helakamal took two.
Made to follow-on the visitors were at the mercy of the Thomians ending the first day at 10/5, Tharindu taking four of them. The Thomians made easy work on day two ending the Dharmasoka misery for 30 with Tharindu adding another three for his tally.
