Only 5.2 overs possible on day 2 at Colts

The Monsoon rains in Sri Lanka deprived most of the play in the second day of the only unofficial Test between the touring Australia under 19s and Sri Lanka under 19s at Colts grounds as only 5.2 overs were possible after day 1 was completely washed off.

Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka won the toss of coin and elected to field with the clouds looming over the ground around 11.30am. Sri Lanka opted to start proceedings with a leg-spinner and it worked out perfectly for the hosts as Wanindu Hasaranga De Silva removed Matthew Renshaw in the first ball he faced as the junior Australians lost a key player early in their innings. After 5 overs, Charith introduced his main trump card in the left-arm spinner Damitha Silva and 2 balls into his spell, he clean bowled Liam Benthorpe for 8 runs and the rain followed up quickly preventing any more play on day 2. Australia was 18/2 in 5.2 overs.

Match will be continued tomorrow.
