Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been ruled out for 10 to 12 weeks with a knee injury, according to the German Football Association.
The German FA announced the news of his scan results on their website after Ozil missed training ahead of their upcoming European Qualifiers against Poland and the Republic of Ireland.
The midfielder played the full game on Sunday as Arsenal were beaten 2-0 at Chelsea – the sixth time in six Premier League starts he has completed all 90 minutes.
The news comes as a further blow to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger whose squad has already been depleted with injuries to Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Debuchy, Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Theo Walcott.
