Ladies’ College won the annual U17 Hockey encounter vs Bishop’s College while the U19 battle was secured by Bishop’s College making both LC and BC joint champs.
The game of the day began as Ladies’ College took on the Bishop’s College in the u19 game.
Bishop’s College dominated the game from the start and gained the upper hand in the 20th minute of the game as they scored off a field goal from Bishop’s College no. 8 Thisari Sanchika and held on by the skin of their teeth to end the first half with the lead.
The second half of the game stretched from side to side but Ladies’ College did not manage to level the game as Bishop’s College held the one goal advantage to win the U19 game in the 10th Ladies’ College versus Bishop’s College annual hockey encounter 2014.
The U17 match between Ladies’ College versus Bishop’s College began under gloomy skies on the Astro turf in Colombo.
Both teams looked well balanced and battled hard to gain the upper hand in the first half of the game. As the game progressed Ladies’ College settled down to the speed of the game but neither team could have taken the lead as the first half ended as a stale mate nil-all.
The second half of the game began and Ladies’ College took the lead half way through as they scored from a penalty corner. Ladies’ College went on to hold the one goal advantage and win the U17 game.
Championship was declared joint as each team won one encounter.
