Asian Rugby Football Union has appointed Former ARFU Panel referee Dilroy Fernando as CMO ( Coach of match officials ) /Performance Reviewer for the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Dilroy Fernando has been one of Sri Lanka’s prominent referee ever, his most memorable refereeing was in the commonwealth games finals between New Zealand and Fiji in 1998, where the ALL Blacks legend Jonah Lomu was running in the pitch when he was doing the job in the sidelines.
Incidentally this is Dilroy’s 4th Asian Games appointment first being in South Korea in 2002.
His past Asian Games appoints :
2002 – In Ulsan, South Korea – Referee : Refereed the 15 a-side Final for the Gold Medal game between South Korea vs Japan.
2006 – In Qatar – Referee : Refereed the 7 a-side Cup Semi Finals.
2010 – In Guangzhou, China – CMO
2014 – In Incheon, South Korea – CMO / Performance Reviewer.
Dilroy quit International Rugby Refereeing in 2009, after officiating at the RWC 7’s in Dubai.
