Lumbini College registered their 3rd straight win in the under 19 division 1 season 2014/15 when they crushed De Mazenod College by 7 wickets in their match played at BRC grounds.
De Mazenod won the toss and elected to bat first on a dry surface. Lumbini bowlers struck gold as they were bowled out their opponents for a mere 104 in the 50th over. Right-handed Malshan Fernando top scored with 25 runs for the visitors. Spinner Chanaka Devinda captured 4 wickets while Janith Dias and Wasana Madusanka took 2 wickets each for the home team.
Lumbini too faired poorly as they were bundled out for only 145 runs in their 1st innings. Top order batsmen, Mohammed Akram and Thanuka Dabare chipped in with valuable 36 and 31 respectively. Rukshan Fernando snapped up 4 scalps while Ishara Perera captured 3 wickets.
De Mazenod in their 2nd innings was completely wrecked by Chanaka Devinda who captured 8 wickets to bowl out the Kandana boys to only 87 runs. Krishan Sanjula was the only batsman to put up some fight as he made 43 runs. Lumbini chased down the target of 48 runs requiring only 10.1 overs as Thanuka Dabare stroked a quick-fire 43 runs to complete a 7-wicket win.
Lumbini College won both their previous matches against Carey College and Revatha College, Balapitiya to hit a purple patch from the start of the season.
