10th Asian Youth Volleyball Championship in Sri Lanka

The 10th Asian Youth Volleyball Championship organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation will be held from the September 5th – 13th 2014 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo. This event was initially worked off in 1997 in the Philippines and Sri Lanka will be hosting this event for the second time.

There will be fifteen teams that will be fighting it out in four groups initially during the preliminaries and then the knockout rounds will determined where the teams will finish at the end of the tournament. Dialog Axiata paving the way for another sport in Sri Lanka will be the main sponsor of this tournament.

In 2012, the winners of the tournament were Iran and will be the team to look out for along with China and Japan who finished second and third place respectively. Sri Lanka finished 6th at the same tournament. The top four teams that finished in this tournament will be automatically qualified for the World Youth Volleyball championship.

The opening ceremony will start at 9am on the 5th of September at the Sugathadasa stadium and the preliminary matches will be under way from the 5th to 8th Sep.  The knockouts will begin from 9th September and continue until the 12th with the top two teams of each group going into the cup championship.

The finals, play offs and closing ceremony will be from on the 13th Sep and 14th Sep.

Australia,Bahrain,China, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Qatar, Sri Lanka,Hong Kong, Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipei
