Newcomers St. John’s College Jaffna will meet Royal ‘B’ in the semi final of the Singer Trophy Under 17 Division II inter schools cricket tournament at Bloomfield ground today.
The tournament is conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association under the sponsorship of Singer Sri Lanka PLC.
St. John’s played two matches in the first round and won both of them – against St. Patrick’s Jaffna and Hindu College Jaffna.
Royal ‘B’ played three matches in the first round. They beat St. Sebastian’s ‘B’, Prince of Wales ‘B’ and Hindu College Bambalapitiya. They lost to St. Peter’s.
In the second round St. John’s beat S. Thomas’ ‘B’ and Taxila Central Horana.
Royal ‘B’ overcame Sri Sumangala NS Wariyapola and Henegama Central in the second round.
In the quarterfinals St. John’s beat S. Thomas’ Bandarawela and Royal ‘B’ beat Ananda ‘B’.
