SLN still on top, OTSC & SLA register victory

Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), Old Thomian Swimmign Club (OTSC) & Sri Lanka Army (SLA) registered victories in 3rd week matches which saw both SLN and OTSC score more than 30 goals against their oppositions in the games held at STC pool, Army pool in Panagoda and Navy Pool Welisara.

OTSC vs ONASC

OTSC faced off against Old Nalanda on the 19th at the STC Swimming Pool in Mount Lavinia and it was a mismatch as OTSC ran riots around the Old Nalanda (ONASC) Defense. OTSC who came off their defeat in the 2nd week against Nalanda thrashed their opponents with no mercy and registered the highest number of goals in the tournament so far and thus making one the rare occasion a team scored more than 35 goals in a game.

OTSC scored 10 goals in the 1st quarter and gave away just one goal to Old Nalanda. For OTSC A. Fransis scored 3 goals while D. Fransis and S. Gunathilake scored 2 goals each while A. Soujah and J. Peiris scored a goal each. S Hasitha scored the solitary goals for ONASC in the 1st quarter. 

OTSC scored 10 more goals in the 2nd quarter and gave away just 2 to ONASC. In the 2nd quarter S. Jayathilake, A. Soujah, A. Fransis and S. Gunathilaka scored 2 goals each while D. Weerarathne and D. Fransis scored a goal each. While S Hasitha was once again the solitary goals scorer for ONASC.

OTSC scored 10 goals in the 3rd quarter and kept Nalanda for a goal less 3rd quarter. T Kahadawala scored 3 goals for OTSC while D. Weerarathne, S. Jayathilaka, A. Fransis scored 2 goals each and I. Peiris scored one goal for OTSC.

In the final quarter OTSC scored 9 more goals and gave away just one to ONASC. D. Wijewardena and S. Jayathilaka scored 2 goals each and I. Kahadawela, A. Soujah, D. Fransis, A. Fransis and K. Munasinghe scored a goal each for OTSC. D Shehan scored the final goal for ONASC. Final scores read as 39- 04 in favor of OTSC.

Ashen Fransis was the star performer for OTSC with 8 goals while S. Jayathilaka scored 6 goals. 

With this victory OTSC jump to the 2nd position in the points table and ONASC remain at the last position still looking for their maiden victory in the league tournament.

SLA vs ACAC

Sri Lanka Army took on Ananda College Aquatic Club in the 2nd week of the game on the 19th at Army Pool in Panagoda and a tight match was expected as both teams came off with victories in the last matches.

But Sri Lanka Army won the match convincingly beating ACAC 13-05. SLA began scoring through Madugoda but Ananda stuck 2 quick goals to take the lead and goals came from Oshadha Madushanka and Danushka Hansara but Army scored in the finals minute on the 1st quarter through A. Bandara to tie the 1st quarter at 2-all.

Army then scored 4 goals in the 2nd quarter and gave away no goal to ACAC. For SLA A. Bandara and Denagamange scored 2 goals each.

Army then further extended their lead with scoring 2 more goals in the 3rd quarter and giving away just 1 goal to ACAC. A. Bandara scored 2 more goals for this name in the 3rd quarter while Nuwan Kumara scored one. Oshadha Madushanka scored the solitary goals for Ananda.

Army left no chance for Ananda to make a comeback and scored 4 more goals in the final quarter and gave away just one. A. Bandara was the star player for Army and scored 3 more goals in the final quarter taking his match tally of goals to 8 goals. Denagamage scored the final goals for Army while Damsara Bandara and Asela Karannagoda scored the goals for ACAC.

Sri Lanka Army drop down one position from Last week’s 2nd to 3rd position this week while  Ananda remain at 5th position end of this week’s matches.

SLN vs SSC

The final match of the week was held between table leaders and unbeaten Sri Lanka Navy and SSC who were still looking for a victory in the tournament and this was another mismatch as Navy piled up 35 goals to SSC’s 05 goals.

SLN scored 10 goals in the 1st quarter while SSC managed to score 02 goals. For SLN Captain Yahan Samarajeewa scored 4 goals while Savith Warnapura and Wasim M. Bawa scored 2 goals each and Shehan Dassanayake and Musharraf Uwais scored a goal each. For SSC C. Ratwatta and T. Wickramasinghe scored goals for SSC.

SLN further extended their lead when they scored 8 goals in the 2nd quarter and kept SSC for a goal less quarter. Wasim M. Bawa scored 5 goals for SLN while Shan Lakshitha and Shehan Dassanayake scored a goal each for Navy.

SLN scored 9 goals in the 3rd quarter and gave away just one goal. For Navy Captain Yahan Samarajeewa scored 3 goals while Shan Lakshitha, Shehan Dassanayake and Musharraf Uwais scored 2 goals each in the quarter. T Wickramasinghe scored the only goal for SSC.

In the final quarter Navy scored 8 more goals and SSC managed to score 2 goals. For Navy Musharraf Uwais scored 4 goals while Wasim M. Bawa scored 2 and Shan Lakshitha and Shehan Dassanayake scored a goal each. Final scores read as 35-05 in favor of SLN.

Wasim M. Bawa was the star performer of the game with 9 goals while Musharraf Uwais and Captain Yahan Samarajeewa scored 7 goals each for the winners.

With this win navy extend their top position for one more week and SSC still remain at 6th position still looking for a win.

4th Week matches will commence from the 20th July.
