Shenal and Tarinda to lead Colombo Blues and Kandy Reds respectively

Less than 10 days to go for the Elite Schools Rugby Showdown of 2014, ThePapare All Star Rugby Encounter will take place on 26th July at Race Course International Stadium.

Triple crowned Isipathana College skipper Shenal Deelaka Silva will lead out the mighty Colombo Blues from his pet position of Flanker.  The 19-year old Shenal had a terrific schools rugby season leading out the unbeaten green machine to eternal glory and he will be itching to round off his 2014 with another win to keep his unblemished unbeaten record.

Brilliant Trinity College captain Tarinda Ratwatte has been named as Kandy Reds captain and Tarinda will look to avenge some defeats against the Colombo schools with his power-packed Kandy outfit. Tarinda’s exciting schools career is all over but this last opportunity to be the play maker starting as the fly-half will no doubt give the fans a treat to look forward to on the 26th.

One of the most experienced tacticians in the Sri Lanka, Sanath Martis who coached Royal College will join hands with Nilufer Ibrahim who made golden history for Isipathana College during the 2014 schools season will act as the Colombo Blues coaches for this star-studded encounter.

Veteran coach and former Kingswood captain Ananda Casthuriarachchi also known as Castro will be coaching the Kandy Reds squad alongside skilled Priyantha Gunarathne. Castro and Priyantha have worked together many times before and they will look to mold a winning combination from the Hill capital. ‘Coach Castro’ has been training Kingswood College for the last few years.
