“Sri Lanka has the potential to host International Motor Racing championships“

Asia Pacific Rally Championship coordinator Murray Brown stated that Sri Lanka can host a large scale International Motor Racing championship if they develop the proper infrastructure in future at a media briefing held at Cinnamon Grand over lunch on Tuesday together with Shafraz Hamzadeen, team principal & CEO of EZY Racing.

“Sri Lanka is a beautiful country which has now become a tourism destination. I am pretty sure Sri Lanka can host an international motor racing championship in the future if they develop their infrastructure and the necessary requirements.“ Murray expressed his views. 

Murray Brown who has an impressive track record in his current role as Asia Pacific Rally Championship coordinator, is an active member of the APRC working group and is involved in all matters pertaining to APRC. Murray has been working tirelessly with FIA (the world governing body for motor racing) to promote and support motor rally sport in the region. 

Murray Brown is a reputed personality in the field of motor racing due to his 20 years of competition as a rally driver and 25 years of involvement in APRC. 

Sri Lanka’s leading motor racing team, EZY Racing is preparing to create history and put the island on the world map of motor racing. EZY Racing will take part in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship next month with the first leg scheduled to take place in Malaysia starting on 15th August. “The first leg will be 2 days long with 220 kms for the riders across the heart of Malaysia. Minimum of 5 new drivers will make their debut in Malaysia including Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Deheragoda who will be driving the ER88 car and the APRC will be battled between 16 contenders. “Murray explained the structure of the APRC. 

“Our team will leave to Malaysia 8 days prior to the rally and the car will be shipped 2 weeks before and the adaptability will be the key in this mega-event which will be telecasted over 160 countries. We are confident of performing to our potential.” Shafraz Hamzadeen noted on behalf of EZY Racing.
