The lads from Moratuwa started as favorites in this crunch knockout semi- final game. And they did not disappoint as they were dominant in the rucks, mauls, breakaways and the back line too was threatening with ball in hand.
Just couple of minutes after the kickoff Prince of Wales’ meant business as the ball was worked to the winger W.A.T Dilshan who outran his opponents to touch down near the corner flag. Yohan Peiris converted. (POW 07 LAC 00)

Athulathmudali got a penalty in the opposite half after Cambrians second row N.L Lakshan was found guilty and sin binned for a high tackle on the opposite player. Unfortunately H.A.S Madushka missed the penalty. Couple of minutes later the lads from moratuwa was awarded a penalty and after a pick and go move which was well orchestrated and the finishing touches were made by S.S.R Kodithuwakku and Yohan Peiris made no mistake with the conversion. The boys from mount lavinia had a golden chance to score after a scrum was eagerly contested by both teams and the loose ball was knock forward from one of the forwards from Athulathmudali who only had to collect and score as the try line was five meters away and had no one from the opposition to pressure rise him. However Athulathmudali got their reward for their good possession as they worked the ball from both sides and found a gap in the Cambrian defense as E.A.I Sampath touched down his team’s first try and gave much appreciation to its supporters who enjoyed that piece of play. Opening fifteen minutes in the second half was very tight as mistakes were made from both sides. At scrum-time Cambrians skipper Wenura Chathuranga burst through the opposite defense and passed it to Yohan Peiris who put a suicidal pass and the loose ball was collected by center Vihanga Fernando who touched down and Yohan Peiris made no mistake with the conversion. After scoring the first try of the second half the lads from Moratuwa continued their dominant play in the second half. A minute later Cambrian’s won a five meter scrum and were too strong to the opposite defense and the ball came out from the scrum and it went to the hands of N.T Lakshan who comfortably scored and S.S.R Kodithuwakku made no mistake with the conversion. No 06 K.A.G Chatriya was sin binned for a high tackle and the boys from Mount lavinia were down to fourteen men. The icing on the cake was added by the Cambrians through Vihanga Fenando who collected the ball from the scrum and was not put under any pressure and scored his second try of the game. With this victory Prince of Wales’ will play Ananda College in the premier trophy final this weekend.
