Arsenal ended their 9 year wait for silverware when they beat Hull City 3-2 at Wembley. Hull started better and took a shock 2 goal lead through James Chester and Curtis Davies who capitalised on some woeful defending.
Alex Bruce almost made it 3 but Kieran Gibbs headed his goal bound header away. Bruce then gave away a free kick which was converted by Santi Cazorla. Allan McGregor should have done better in goal.
Arsenal had a couple of penalty shouts denied but equalised through Laurent Koscielny who turned home following a corner. Extra time beckoned and a hero was required.
Up stepped Aaron Ramsey who scored the winner in extra time to end his side’s prolonged wait for a trophy.
Atletico Madrid win Spanish La Liga
Atletico Madrid drew 1-1 at the Nou Camp to win their 18th Spanish title. Alexis Sanchez gave Barca the lead but Diego Godin restored parity. The Rojiblancos will now set their sights on the Champions League final as they face city rivals Real Madrid who are eyeing an elusive 10th European title.
Barca manager Tata Martino will leave the Catalan club after failing to secure any silverware this term.
Bayern Munich win DFB Pokal
Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller scored in extra time as Bayern beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 to complete their domestic double.
