The sport of tennis is set to make its way to the hills as the month of April is set to feature two exciting tournaments that will take place in Nuwaraeliya and Bandarawela.

Both these tournaments are B grade ranking tennis tournaments which have gained immense popularity over the years through the means of the best players in the country such as Dineshkanthan Thangarajah who play the tournament every year. As a result of the excellent organizing and the valuable points that are available to the players interested in improving their rankings they have now gone on to become tournaments that are a pivotal part of any tennis players tournament calendar.

The first of the two tournaments which is ‘The Hill Club Nuwaraeliya Open Ranking Tournament’ commenced today (12th April) and is scheduled to come to a close on the 16th of April. The tournament which has attracted the likes of over 200 entries will be refereed by Dinusha Wijesuriya and is scheduled to feature the following events.

•Boys under 12 singles

•Boys under 14 singles

•Boys under 14 doubles

•Boys under 16 singles

•Boys under 18 singles

•Boys under 18 doubles

•Girls under 12 singles

•Girls under 14 singles

•Girls under 16 singles

•Girls under 18 singles

•Mens Singles

•Mens Doubles

•Womens Singles

•Mens over 45 doubles

The players to watch out for as far as the men’s open events are concerned are the dangerous Dineshkanthan Thangarajah and the experienced Sankha Atukorale. The women’s singles event will also feature two talented individuals in the likes of Nilushi Fernando and Thewuni Devarajah.

The second tournament which is the 117th Bandarawela Tennis Club Open Ranking tournament which will be refereed by Ifam Basheer is scheduled to take place from the 17th of April to the 21st of April at the club premises. The tournament is scheduled to feature the same events as mentioned above and is guaranteed to produce tennis of the finest quality.
