The second Canada and Sri Lanka Friendship Trophy Judo Championship 2014 is being organised by the Sri Lanka Judo Association on the 21st and 22nd March, 2014 at Judojo Colombo.
The event which comprises of Men and Women senior, Men and Women team, overall for Men and Women, Junior Boys and Girls category and an open event for over 40kgs is expected to see high competition.
Weight categories are as follows :
(a) Men: -45,-50, -55-, 60,-66,-73,-81,-90,-100,+100 and Open
(b) Women: -40,-44,-48,-52,-57,-63,-70,+70 and Open
(c) Junior Open Championship (boys & girls)
(d) Team championship
(1) Men: 5 players and 1 Res (1 Team per Club)
(2) Women:5 players and 1 Res (1 Team per Club)
(e) Overall for men
(f) Overall for women
(g) Each Club can represent only 2 competitors in one weight class.
(h) Each Competitor can take part in only one weight category other than the Open Event.
The competition rules stipulate that all competitors should be between lower and upper limits of their weight categories and all competitors must have been graded by the Sri Lanka Judo Association. All Clubs and Schools affiliated to the Sri Lanka Judo association are eligible to participate and each Club/School must appoint a team captain who will be responsible for the proper conduct and affairs of the team and will be consulted on all official and unofficial matters.
Further the IJF competition rules and IJF Refereeing rules will be adopted for this tournament subject to change if any made by the organizing committee. The Sri Lanka Judo Association will appoint all Referees and Judges and conduct of bouts will be -elimination system repacharge.
The time duration will be 4 minutes for Men and 3 minutes for Women in the preliminary round and 5 minutes for Men and 4 minutes for Women in the finals.
The closing ceremony will be held at 1645 hrs on the 22nd March 2014 under the patronage of His Excellency the Ambassador of Canada in Sri Lanka
The official weigh-in will be held from 0900 hrs to 1100 hrs at the same venue on the 21st March 2014 While the stipulated clothing will be – Men : Judo bottom , Women : Judo bottom and T-Shirt. The draw is scheduled to be held soon after the weigh-in and the bouts will commence at 1145 hrs on the 21st March, 2014.
